He has literally grown the practice from the ground up. He has served many leadership roles during his tenure at Baptist Health, including acting as the current Chair of Radiation oncology, he has previously served as interim Cancer Center Director, Head of the Cancer Committee, and Chair of the Baptist Health Credentialing Committee. Dr. Beckman was is one of the key people responsible for bringing the CyberKnife treatment program to Baptist, and he is also nationally recognized for the use of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for prostate cancer. Having worked at Baptist Health for over 25 years, he now calls Lexington his home. He has even bought a farm and prides himself in all of the animals that he takes care of. He is very well known for his dedication, caring demeanor, and high quality care that he provides. In his spare time, he is an avid pilot and regularly flies his powered-parachute around the palisades of central Kentucky.
